Industrial Rescue Technician training for Fire Service, Hazardous Area Response Teams and other Industrial Rescue units.

Industrial Rescue Technician is a highly practical course which teaches simple techniques for protecting the operator and performing rescue operations either by lowering or raising.

This rescue course also covers the use of a safety line for back-up of the casualty or for safety of team members.

All aspects of equipment selection, use and maintenance are covered, including quadpods, winches, stretchers, rescuers PPE and portable equipment for lowering or raising.

Covers suspension intolerance and casualty handling methods.

RescuePack Core Skills / Level 1 User is covered on the first day of this course. A RescuePack User is able to operate all aspects of the RescuePack under the supervision of the person in charge of the operation.

Meets Fire and Rescue Service Manual, “Fire Service Training – Foundation Training and Development: Principles of standard practice and techniques”.

Course elements covered include:

  • Introduction to personal fall protection (WAHSA )
  • Awareness and understanding of RescuePack contents and functions
  • Awareness of methods to achieve safety at height
  • Methods of equipment inspection
  • Fall factors
  • Selection of safe anchorages
  • Abrasion and edge hazards
  • Elementary pulley theory

Practical skills covered in this course include:

  • Demonstrate the use of RP for personal safety
  • Demonstrate a range of rescue methods:
    • Work restraint
    • Life-lining
    • Lowering
    • Hauling
    • Use of a reach pole

Safety footwear required for all practical sessions.

It is the participants/bookers responsibility to ensure that all relevant pre-requisites are met to attend this course and that the evidence is provided on the first day of the course e.g. in-date certificates for revalidation courses. Failure to meet any of these pre-requisites may result in the participant being asked to leave the course. No refund will be given in this event.

  • Work at Height First Aid Pack – portable kit for use on high structures. Compliant with BS8599-1:2019. Can be attached to harness for easy transport. Contained in rucksack style case, with prominent reflective markings, zip around opening and a robust carry handle with attachment loop for clipping to a harness.
