The Harness Fitting and Use course is for those requiring basic compliance to the work at height requirements, and knowledge of fitting and using a fall arrest safety harness to connect to a suitable anchor point.
The safety harness fitting and use training course provides the minimum knowledge required for a person to meet the legal requirements of working at height and basic fall protection techniques.
The training can either be classroom based or safe outside area based for demonstrating the practical use of the height safety equipment.
Course elements covered in the Harness Fitting & Use course include:
- Methods of fall protection
- Pre-use equipment checks
- Selection of suitable anchorages
- Fall arrest blocks
- Suspension intolerance
Practical skills covered in the Harness Use course include:
- Harness fitting and use
- Use of anchorage slings and connectors
- Attachment and use of fall arrest lanyards
- Attachment and use of temporary horizontal line
- Use of adjustable restraint lanyard
Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.

It is the participants/bookers responsibility to ensure that all relevant pre-requisites are met to attend this course and that the evidence is provided on the first day of the course e.g. in-date certificates for revalidation courses. Failure to meet any of these pre-requisites may result in the participant being asked to leave the course. No refund will be given in this event.

- Work at Height First Aid Pack – portable kit for use on high structures. Compliant with BS8599-1:2019. Can be attached to harness for easy transport. Contained in rucksack style case, with prominent reflective markings, zip around opening and a robust carry handle with attachment loop for clipping to a harness.
