Confined Space Entry WTG training course provides practical skills and knowledge for entering basic confined spaces safely to carry out light maintenance or inspection work in wind turbines. During the course participants will gain experience of narrow, constricted and dark environments and will rescue a colleague.
Course elements covered in the Confined Space Entry WTG course include:
- The legal, personal and medical requirements for confined space entry
- The characteristics of confined spaces – what is a confined space?
- The duties and requirements of a Vessel Entry Sentry
- Types of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Types of rescue equipment
- Care, inspection and maintenance of equipment
- Gas monitoring and awareness of atmospheric hazards
Practical skills covered in the Confined Space Entry WTG course include:
- Safe fitting of harness
- Use of vertical safety systems
- Confidence when exposed to constricted, dark environment
- Carry out a casualty recovery
- Use of a gas detector
Due to the nature of this Confined Space Entry WTG training course, participants should be comfortable with exposure to dark and constricted environments and should not suffer from claustrophobia.
Safety footwear is required for all practical training sessions.
