This first aid course is for any nominated Emergency First Aid at Height (EFAW certified) individuals or businesses who manage the first aid requirements for work sites or offices and take responsibility for first aid arrangements to comply with the needs of Health & Safety (First Aid Regulations) 1981.
Emergency First Aid at Work – EFAW teaches participants how to promptly assess, prioritise and manage incidents, deal with minor injuries, casualty handling, administration of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The course contains both theory and hands on practical training sessions.
The elements covered on this one day course includes:
- First aid priorities
- Managing incidents
- Basic life support
- Examination of a casualty
- Unconsciousness
- Control of bleeding
- Burns and scalds
- Regulations
- First aid kits
- Recording and reporting
Practical skills covered in the course include:
- Casualty handling
- Administration of first aid safely, promptly and efficiently to:
- A casualty who is unconscious
- A casualty who is wounded or bleeding and / or in shock
- A casualty who is choking, or who has difficulty breathing
- Administration of cardio pulmonary resuscitation – CPR
- Provision of appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Safety footwear is required for all practical training sessions.
The course certificate is valid for a three year period, after which participants will need to revalidate their training. However, it is advised that participants refresh their training every 12 months.

- Work at Height First Aid Pack – a portable kit for use on high structures. Compliant with BS 8599-1:2019. The kit can be attached to harness for easy transport. Contained in a rucksack style case, with prominent reflective markings, zip around opening and a robust carry handle with attachment loop for clipping to a harness.
