Practical course for people who work on tower cranes or tall structures, to enable them to evacuate or rescue another person.

Tower Crane Rescue training course is designed for people who work on tower cranes or tall structures who may have to self evacuate or perform casualty rescues.

This practical course gives participants the skills in how use heightec’s ROTOR constant rate descender device (CRD) system to lower a casualty to a safe location.

Includes information on anchor point selection, identification of safe descent paths, care of casualty and how to correctly handle a casualty who has been suspended in a harness and the effects of suspension intolerance.

Course elements covered include:

  • Awareness and understanding of CRD contents and function
  • Pre-use checks of equipment
  • Selection of suitable anchorages
  • Abrasion and edge hazards
  • Elementary pulley theory
  • Choosing a safe rescue path (projections, wind etc.)
  • Medical dangers of suspension
  • Casualty handling

Practical skills covered in Tower Crane Rescue include:

  • Fitting a full body fall arrest harness
  • Elementary use of fall protection lanyards
  • Fitting a casualty harness
  • Fitting a casualty in a stretcher
  • Attachment to the casualty
  • Raising a casualty
  • Lowering a casualty
  • Use of tagline

Safety footwear required for all practical sessions.

This rescue training course complies with the requirements of Construction Plant-Hire Association technical note TIN013 Rescue of Personnel From Height on Tower Cranes.

It is the participants/bookers responsibility to ensure that all relevant pre-requisites are met to attend this course and that the evidence is provided on the first day of the course e.g. in-date certificates for revalidation courses. Failure to meet any of these pre-requisites may result in the participant being asked to leave the course. No refund will be given in this event.
